I woke up at 11:30 A.M. and had lunch with the family at 12PM. Olly and I decided to drive to the East Coast and venture to some local beaches. We got some gas which is super expensive. $1.59 a litter = 3 litters in a gallon... you guys can do the math LOL. First stop Shakespear Regional Park. I saw a peacock, lots of sheep and the beautiful ocean on both sides of us. We also walked through a campsite and saw children playing the local sport cricket.
After that we went to Orewa, where we got local ice cream.. I got the strawberry in the waffle cone and olly the chocolate and apricot... I would have to say the apricot was the winner! Gosh I have NEVER tasted such great ice cream before, definately beats Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia. We walked with our ice creams on the beach and made our way back to olly's car.
Next up was Wenderhom Regional Park... This place was probably my favorite. It was so lush and green. The beach was so peaceful, the water a little warmer then Muriwai and greener in color. We found more shells and walked all the way around by a lake that you could literally see the bottom of. We then set out on a trail all the way up to a look out point that was beyond beautiful. I snapped some photos of the beauty and we made our way back to the car.
We headed back to Olly's house to eat some TEA... Yes they call dinner time TEA-TIME... Olly's dad Dave was like "its time for TEA". I was like "What?" Then got the clue! For dinner we had fried up snapper (oh yes Vinncenta, we had SNAPPER!), potatoes/sweet, salad, squash, grape juice and bread. Olly and his family eat supper healthy... They have three bowls of fruit loaded with all sorts of fruit! Right up my ally to get all my 5-9 servings of fresh fruits and veggies... Oh the dietitian in me... Oh yes for dessert we had apricot with a bit of scone on top... Yum.
After dinner we hungout a bit and I did some blogging... Then the triedness came over me and it was off to bed
